This lesson will walk you through the process of configuring Max Pax.
The goal here is to set a maximum number of patrons every 'X' times. Please keep in mind that this is not always your total limit.
For example, your venue may be able to accommodate 120 people. However, you may not be able to accommodate 120 guests every 30 minutes. As a result, your Max Pax setup could be 40 customers every 30 minutes.
Setting 1 - What is the Time Interval between Your Booking Widget's Time Slots?
This setting is optional and is where you set the time intervals for when a customer can make a booking. This is set to 15 minutes by default and can be changed by using the selector and entering the required time. The decision that needs to be made here is whether would you like your customers to book every:
15 minutes - e.g. 6.15 pm, 6.30 pm, 6.45 pm etc.
30 minutes - e.g. 6.30 pm, 7 pm, 7.30 pm and so on.
Setting 2 - What is Your Average Seating Duration?
When using Max Pax, this is one of the most important settings and can be a little confusing.
Essentially, the system is asking you to select a time (15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour) and then determine how many customers you can serve during that time.
For example, if you choose 30 minutes, you could state that your venue can accommodate 30 people every 30 minutes. This means that in any given 30-minute time slot, there will be no more than 30 people in the restaurant.
Important Things To Note About Seating Duration With Max Pax - Don't go over an hour
It is important to note what this setting can do and what it means.
For example, if you set this to 2 hours and close at 9 pm. As you have specified that you require 2 hours for the booking time, the last booking availability will be at 7 pm. So be cautious when deciding on a time here. This is why WOWAPPS suggest you keep it to under or equal to 1 hour (60 minutes).
Setting 3 - Enable Max Pax (Off) - Required
- Simply click on the Enable Maximum Pax switch to turn it green.
- Once green you will see an empty #field.
- This is where we input our number from Step Two. For example, if you said that your venue can handle 20 pax every 30 minutes, you would put 20 here.

Remember:
There is no right or wrong answer here and everything can be adjusted in a matter of seconds. Try not to overthink this and it's always best to aim lower.
